adaptation More than 50 years after the publication of her first and only novel "To Kill a Mockingbird," Harper Lee is expected to publish a second book. The 88-year-old author has agreed to publish "Go Set a Watchman," which will serve as a sequel to his first, and follows Atticus Finch and his daughter Scout from the original. It is expected that this book will eventually be turned into a film adaptation, which can become as iconic as the literary work itself, like "to Kill a Mockingbird" did.

"Pride and Prejudice"

Although it is located in 19th century England, the iconic Jane Austen novel is still one of the most beloved books to date. This was probably one of the first books that brought you to tears in primary school. Wilson Rawls' history to come of age explores the themes of love, loss and adventure in this moving novel about a boy and his two dogs redbone hunting. "The Shawshank Redemption"

Stephen King's 1982 novel "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" was brought to the big screen in 1994 with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. It follows Andy Dufresne, played by Robbins, after he was arrested and imprisoned for the alleged double murder of his wife and her lover. You can find streaming movie on Amazon Instant Video.

"The Great Gatsby" adaptations

Another literary work that you have probably been forced to read in school - most recently known for publishing Leonardo DiCaprio Hollywood - 1925 F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel is set in the Roaring twenties and serves as a warning against any attempt to realize the American dream. The adaptation of the original film stars Robert Redford and Mia Farrow and is available on Netflix, and for fans of Leo, iTunes has the latest version available for download.

"Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"

This is the second of only three films to have won all five major Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Jack Nicholson's role as Randle . Written by Ken Kesey in 1962, this film takes place in a mental institution Oregon, where the main character Randle simulates insanity to avoid a prison sentence and is serving his sentence in a psychiatric hospital instead. "The Godfather" adaptations

Perhaps most well known for the trilogy of films starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, he was originally a detective novel by author Italian Mario Puzo and introduces readers to the first American crime fiction family, the Corleone. With quotables like "I'll make him an offer he can not refuse," it became a classic crowd parts one, two and three are all available on Amazon Instant Video for streaming
