Citibank (a NextAdvisor seller) has just increased the introductory period of 0% APR on their two most popular 0% APR cards - Citi Simplicity and Citi diamond preferred - 18 months at an amazing 21 months. This is the longest period without interest introductory APR that we saw in a credit card, which allows users to make new purchases with these cards or other cards transfer balances to these cards and pay no interest until 2018 . The long period of 0% APR is a smart way to save money by giving you time to pay your balance within 21 months without a penny because of interest charges.

Citi Simplicity offers 21 months 0% Intro APR on purchases and balance transfers, but also has no late fees, no penalty rate and no annual fee. This means that with saving money by not paying the interest on your balance, you will not need to worry about an increase in your APR over and you will not be charged a fee if you happen to be late on a payment. The card has a 3% balance transfer fee, but given the long period of 0% APR could be very worthwhile to transfer your balance to this card. Take a look at our free balance transfer calculator to determine if this is your best balance transfer option.

Citi Diamond Preferred also has a 21-month 0% Intro APR on purchases and balance transfers, but offers benefits like concierge services and the opportunity to earn points by making purchases with the card. You earn 10% of every card purchase in the points (ie, you will earn 1 point for every $ 10 spent) and they can be redeemed against savings on merchandise online, gift cards and even travel. Although you can not use points to pay for something in full, they can be used to update the cost of these items. Similar to the Citi Simplicity, Citi Diamond Preferred will charge 3% balance transfer fee, but again, given the 21 months 0% between April and it could definitely be worth it.
